Icelandic American Holidays

For Thanksgiving, me and Dan were invited to celebrate it with a great group of Icelanders and the food was amazing....you appreciate home cooked food so much more when you live on junk food :P

We didn´t really celebrate Christmas, my family called us at noon our time, and then me and Dan went to see New Years Eve at the Grauman´s and  had Christmas dinner at In and Out. Yes our style indeed.

The next day we took a roadtrip to Dublin (close to San Francisco) and had amazing Icelandic dinner (hangikjöt and jafningur) at my friend´s house, it felt like home, especially the next day when they had a couple of friends/acquaintances over. It was surreal because it felt like the family gatherings back at home. Small talkand cookies (piparkökur) surrounded by beautiful Christmas decorations. Celebrating it with loved ones. It was beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.

A great way to celebrate the holidays

Hollywood Halloween

In Hollywood, they celebrate Halloween with a Parade in West Hollywood, so we decided to dress up and walk all the way to West Hollywood with Dan´s friend Matt. Dan was Hugh Hefner, I was a playboy bunny and Matt was Quilman. The parade really reminded me of Gay Pride back at home, thousands of people celebrating together dressed up in beautiful costumes. it was ok, but it got to be too much and we walked back and stopped at Carney´s, a restaurant in a train car, on the way. It´s the tourist spot that Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory took his guests so we had to go and drink there :)

The parade was ok but i thought it was way more fun when we went to the bar Happy Endings a couple of days earlier. Especially since the doorman saw Matt´s costume and screamed "Quilman, in front of the line." I also loved that they played a lot of 90´s music, including Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys and other such hits, that i hadn´t heard in a long time. Made our day! Happy Halloween indeed!

30 celebrities in 4 months

Stars are all around in Hollywood. So far I´ve seen  Ellen, Jon Voight, Jack Black, Trey Parker, Matt Stone, Jessica Capshaw (Arizona in Grey's Anatomy), Colin Egglesfield,  Gerard Butler, Steve-O and the other Jackass guys, Taylor Lautner (at his premiere), Jason Sadeikis, Gilles Marini (naked guy from Sex and the city movie), Christopher Masterson, Dax Shepard, Gene Simmons (performed with his kids at W), Whitney Cummings and the cast of the show Whitney, and then those who came to our school, Musicians Institute, Derek Sharinian (former pianist of Dreamtheater), Matt Sorum (drummer of Gunsnroses and Velvet Revolver), Adrian Young (drummer of No Doubt), The Bangles and Ziggy Marley. So I've seen around 30 celebrities in 4 months. Not bad!

A Jimmy Kimmel love story

Two months ago I decided to go see Jimmy Kimmel live and boy am i glad i did because that's where i met my boyfriend Dan. That's right. I saw his MI badge (Musicians Institute, he goes to my school) and that started our conversation. We sat and talked during the show, had a drink after the show, played vintage videogames at his place and 2 weeks later we were boyfriend&girlfriend.

To celebrate that, we went to see Jimmy Kimmel together. It was exactly two months after we´d met.  Jim Parsons from the TV show The Big Bang Theory was his guest and i thought it would be cool if we bought Bazinga t-shirts (his phrase) and would wear them. Boy did that work! Not only did we get the best seats in the house, we were on TV, we became a part of the segment. Jimmy Kimmel pointed to us....

and in the end.....after Jim Parsons told a hilarious story of interaction with a fan he pointed out how great the distance between us was and the camera was placed on us. Our 5 seconds of fame.

What you didn´t see was him coming over to us, shaking our hands and thanking us. That was amazing. We met Jim Parsons.

To top it off, we also won 150 dollar gift certificate at Morton´s steakhouse and 150 dollars worth of gas at Shell. Amazing night!!!!

And i got an article and in the news back at home because of it

One month

Been here almost a month....still cant believe i´m here

Since Natalie, my awesome roomate, was leaving to London I spent a lot of time with her. We went shopping on Melrose, got a psychic reading and she got a Tattoo....  a beautiful dove wth the saying "Take it easy, don´t let the wheels drive you crazy."

She always wanted a tattoo of a dove with a message but hadnt gotten a message yet. A few days before she invited a homeless man to eat with her and after a long talk, he ended up singing the song by The Eagles Take it easy....and it really resonated with her.

So I went with her to Melrose to a tattoo place called Immaculate conception. It took about an hour or two, time went by fast, she was so calm. Amazed me.

She left last Monday, so sad but i´m so grateful to meet such an amazing person and consider myself lucky to call her a friend. My Swedish Angel. See her blog http://nashalife.tumblr.com/

I love shopping on Melrose, its the best, such unique clothes and if you´re lucky you get the sales person as your personal stylist.

Gréta took me Salsa dancing at El Floridita (reminded me of the salsa bar Floridita in Vienna). It was so much fun, granted i did not have the shoes for it but man those guys can dance. I (former latin dancer) even had trouble catching up. thankfully they take the lead. Always so much fun with Gréta.

Met more icelanders, Andrea took me, Jónína and Jökull to Manhattan beach. Too bad it was freezing, so Andrea and Jökull juggled and we talked. We spotted a lifeguard and i couldnt help but put on the Baywatch theme. Made them look around and smile. mission accomplished!

I´m a huge movie buff, so figures i go to all the movie theatres and see the latest films:

-saw Moneyball, featuring Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill, in a theatre in Los Feliz with my homegirl Ragga. Oscar worthy movie. To top the evening, we saw Mena Suvari on the way

-saw the premiere of "Finding Joe" in Santa Monica, movie about the wisdom of Joseph Campbell, starring Deepak Chopra and other philosophers. Really inspiring movie. I found out about it because i love Philosophernotes (www.philosophersnotes), a program by Brian Johnson, who also starred in the movie and gave us a copy of his latest book Philosophersnotes and i got a picture with him....awesome! 3 years ago i started listening to him and now i was next to him.

- went and saw "What´s your number" in Graumans Chinese Theatre, starring Chris Evans and Anna Farris, they are hilarious and interesting topic but i was more blown away by the theatre. No wonder the premieres are held there, huge theatre with amazing decorations and costumes, like Dorothy´s from Wizard of Oz and Marilyn Monroe´s dress from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. And the bathrooms. The entry was larger than our apartment, filled with mirrors and chairs. Perfect dressing room.

-was having a bad day so went and saw 50/50 at the Pacific theatre at the Grove. Smart move when having a bad day, there is nothing like crying your eyes out at a cancer movie. Good movie!

Had a HOLLYWEIRD moment when going by bus to Santa Monica. I was sitting at a bus stop when an older man drove his convertible towards me and asked "would you like to do a threesome with me and my girlfriend (pointing at the woman next to him)".... i was speechless, so he repeated like 3 times. Needless to say I said "NO THANKS"

School is interesting, this quarter i´m taking Recording Techniques, Logic, Songwriting, Visual Media, Entertainment Business, Vocal lesson and an internship (i´ll figure that out next week). The first day was kind of overwhelming but after taking all the classes i feel better and i´m excited to see how it goes.

I had time after Orientation so I had lunch at Mel´s diner (love love love the diners here, sooo my place) and then visited the Hollywood Museum located near the school and what a trip, saw everything from Lucille Ball memorabilia, costumes from Moulan Rouge, Glee, Twilight, to the dog in Something about Mary to Planet of the Apes and the cellar from Silence of the Lambs. There was also a very interesting video about Maxfactor, and different dressing room for different haircolors, blondes (Monroe) brunettes (Jackie Collins), etc. Really interesting museum.

On my way back home I saw a line, where they were offering tickets to Jimmy Kimmel live, since i had no plan i planted myself there. Then i noticed a guy who had a MI badge like mine, turns out hes in the guitar program. Great guy. The show was great. So surreal having Jimmy Kimmel so close to you. The guest included the creators of South Park and Jessica Capshaw (Arizona from Grey´s Anatomy). Trey Stone and Matt Parker talked about being on acid at the Oscars (when they dressed up as J.Lo and Björk)....funny you can say acid on tv, but not Shit or Fuck...that´s America for you.

Had a day off so decided to go to the Grove, where Ellen Degeneres was having a signing for her new book. I showed up early only to found out i was late, apparently you´re suppose to come in the morning, get a wristband and that guarantees you a copy of the book and one on one time with her. That sucked, since i couldnt do that, i decided to wait by the entrance on the floor where she was signing. I took a photo and then took off. When outside I saw people posing with  Jon Voight, and then later i saw Jack Black (he was playing at an Autism concert). Fun to be surrounded by stars.

As much as i hate to admit it, the honeymoon is over and work has begun. Next months wont be as eventful since i will have school and studying. But you never know. There are some fun events at school, like the drummer from No Doubt who having a Q&A next week. Thats the beauty of being in Hollywood. The stars are all around.

Amazing

Through with the guilt!!!!

“I’m so tired of saying no and then waking up in the morning and recalling every single thing I ate the day before, counting every calorie I consume so I know exactly how much self loathing to take into the shower. I’m going for it. I have no interest in being obese, I’m just through with the guilt..”

Wonders how many women are not properly eating and enjoying food because they worry about their figure? Is it really worth it?

Fuck it....i´m with Liz (Julia Roberts character)...."I´m through with the guilt"

A year ago I was in this place....crying on the bathroom floor, praying to God for guidance. For a sign.

The day after.....I got it....a moment of clarity. I wanted to move back home.

So i did. I broke up with my boyfriend, moved home, worked on myself and saved money to go to school in Hollywood. A dream of mine since I was a little girl.

And now.... a year later, i´m at my most peaceful i´ve been in years.
I´m content, happy with myself and my life.

I was watching Eat Pray Love now for the hundredth time, and it reminded me of the moment i watched it first. It was around the same time I had moved back home. I felt i like it was my story.

A person that lost oneself in love, so much she doesn´t recognize herself and was now on a journey to love life and herself. Change her thoughts. Let go of the past!

Or as Richard in Eat Pray Love says:

"Select your thoughts as you select your clothes everyday"

and when Liz talks about her missing David:

"Miss him, send him love and light and then let go"

I´ve been on that journey for three years, in 2009, dealing with my depression, 2010 dealing with what i want out of life (quarter life crisis), 2011 changing my negative thoughts into positive, learning to let go of the past, be grateful and love every little thing in life. It´s hard work but its worth it.

I´m in a totally different place. I´m happy!

It´s amazing what a difference a year makes.....

I guess it it true what Elizabeth Gilbert wrote: "Ruin is the road to transformation"

You can´t blame us....

L.A. BABY!!!!

Still wake up every morning and have to pinch myself to see if i´m not dreaming.... it´s so surreal

I´M LIVING IN L.A.!!!!

I was so fortunate to have my parents with me along for the ride. We flew to Seattle and then L.A. LAX is a really big airport so i don´t know if it´s just the exit for the alaska airlines but our exit was really old fashioned and chaotic. Not very organized. Maybe i´m too used to the European airports. Could be.
We got a taxi, which felt more like being in a police car, since it had such little space for our feet in the back and glass window between with one hole to talk to the driver. We stayed at the Comfort Inn on Sunset Boulevard, a nice hotel on a  great location, very close to Hollywood Blvd.

my mom and dad with my school (MI) in the background

We went on a hop on hop off bus where we drove around the city, through Hollywood Blvd, Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills, Melrose, La Brea and the Grove. Jumped off the bus and walked 30 min down Melrose and met Ragga, a friend of my sister, at Urth Cafe. I had a blast talking to her, she made me feel so welcome. The next day we saw the school and went to Zumba class, only to meet a former classmate of mine. Small world indeed! Turns out she lives close by and goes to my gym.

Next we worked on finding apartments for me, so we went to the school and got a list of people who needed roommates, i called one girl called Natalie, she didn't answer. My mom later had to get some forms and on the way she found Natalie. Turns out she had a room available, with 2 roommates, a guy from Swiss, Gabriel and a girl from France, Angie. I saw the apartment building, with sun deck, hot tub, swimming pool, gym and the apartment was really nice too. I met Gabriel and Angie and decided to take it! I got the apartment, bank card , phone and a computer all in one day.
And it was soooo easy.... at least next to life in Vienna, Austria.

Since that was all settled, i got to enjoy the rest of the time with my parents. We spent most of the time shopping, I got some jewelry from the J.Lo Collection at Kohl, t-shirts at Forever 21 at Glendale Galleria and underwear at Victoria Secret in Beverly Center. My mom and I had the best Ceasar salad at a place called "Stone Oven" at Beverly Center. AMAZING! I loved spending some time with my mom and dad and i´m so grateful that they were there to help me out.

I went with my roommates, Natalie and Gabriel, to see Chinatown...... only to find a little town, or a little  square. I thought it was amazing to see a little china there but i thought there would be more. Still appreciate the effort. We took the metro back to hollywood where we stumbled upon a premiere of Abduction, red carpet and all, Taylor Lautner there somewhere. Always something going on in L.A.

Met Jónína, a fellow Icelander from my school and her friend Andrea, at Maui´s, only to have fever, stomach ache and chills by the end. I don't know if it was sun sting, food poisoning or nerves but i felt horrible so I went back to the hotel. My stomach has been a little upset lately, maybe because of the new environment, food and just everything. Everything is new, which can be a little overwhelming.

We went to Universal Studios and bought the Priority pass and boy....was it worth it. We would have normally waited for at least 30 min in front of every line but with the pass we got in front of the line. I loved seeing the studio tour, where we saw the set of Desperate Housewives, Psycho, War of the Wolds and Grinch who stole Christmas and so many other sets like Little Italy, Mexico, France, Western and green screen they use for movies. In that ride you go through King kong ride and jaws. Such fun!

We also went to Krustyland (Simpsons ride) and wow, it was so cool. It was a simulator but you moved a lot so you felt like you were on a roller coaster. It´s spectacular. Outside they also have the Quick-E-Mart, where the Simpsons family posed with visitors. Then there was a cool Pirate show and a special effect one. I loved that one, sure i knew a lot of it, but their presentation of it was fun. There was also a Shrek land, where you had a seat and it shook and stuff, but i didn't like that as much, it was just uncomfortable, at least for my back. We ended the day watching Blues Brothers show. Great end of a great day!

My dad left on Thursday and my mom on Monday. On Monday I moved to my new apartment. I got settled in and took a Latin class at the gym in the evening. It was soo much fun.

The next day was really busy, registered at school, and then walked up Runyon Canyon (a mountain close by my place). It was really steep, but i made it to the top and wow, what a view! You can see over the whole city. So beautiful! Then I met Gréta, an awesome Icelandic girl, and we really bonded, we had a little jam session at her place and then went out. Met her Danish friends at Sky bar, then saw live music at a bar where she sings sometime and met even more people and ended the night at 101, where we met her friend Gerard Butler. He was so nice, came over and introduced himself and talked about how much he loves Iceland, its his second favorite city to visit. It was a pleasure meeting him. We came home at 4 o´clock so i chilled the next day, slept in and talked to my friends on Skype. Thanks to the time difference i have to talk to them at noon (then its evening their time). I spent the evening chilling with my awesome roommate Natalie or as i call her my Swedish sista! Love her! Too bad she's moving to London :(

I met more awesome Icelandic girls, my home girl Ragga picked me up and we went to Santa Clarita and picked up Ágústa (she lives in a suburb, reminds me of Desperate housewives, so cute) and went back to L.A. at a very cozy restaurant where we met Hrafntinna. They were all so lovely, we talked for hours and even had drinks at Formosa. Such fun! we will for sure hang out more often.

I used the time lately to feel at home in my new home, it´s good to use the time now while Gabriel is in Asia and Angie is staying with her boyfriend, then i get to familiarize myself with the apartment and feel at home instead of their place.

I´m so fortunate to have such good parents that were willing to help me move here and fortunate to have met such great people in L.A. and thankfully things have gone quite smoothly here. Easy breezy!

as for L.A.... so far so good!

See you next year

Had to say goodbye to my friends, which is always hard. Met Vælsdruslurnar (Dagný, Matthildur, Guðrún) at Uno for a delicious Italian meal, met Eygló at Vegamót for lunch, had dinner with Svava, Sara, Eva, Maya and Sigga at Caruso, ice cream and movienight with Þórunn, and drove around with Árnný. I also had a goodbye party at my house where Ingunn, Lára, Eygló, Begga, Guðrún, Maya, Valdi, Vala, Þórdís, Maggi and Auður had a blast talking, drinking and fooling around. Then we went downtown, where we had delicous Cosmopolitan at Laundromat and danced at Celtic. SUCH FUN!

Since I was going to L.A. i decided to be extra pretty, which meant coloring my hair, my eyebrows, waxing and facial. Highly recommend Erna at Verði Þinn Vilji for waxing and Anna María at Blue Lagoon Spa for facial. They were amazing. It was during the waxing, where as a comfort you almost scream "Beauty is pain".... that i thought how much women do to stay beautiful. It reminded me of a scene from Coupling (UK version), where a couple has broken up and both the girls and the guys go to the temple of women.... what do you think that means in their world? As the woman says "I´m single, i need to look good naked"

Me and Þórunn had a Marylin Monroe movie marathon, where we watched Gentlemen prefer Blondes (my favourite), Some Like it Hot and Seven Year Itch (famous picture of her over the vent). I love those movies, funny dialogue, music, dancing and singing. Just take a look at the clips below

and then the most famous look and song of hers

It´s weird, i lived in Vienna, Austria for 5 years but i always came home for summer and Christmas but now i´ll be staying in L.A. for 7 months but because i won´t be in Iceland for Christmas and New Years it seems so long. It´s weird saying to your friends "See ya next year".... until then skype and facebook.

Thank God for technology :)

Beautiful Iceland

My friends Þórdís, Magnús and Auður surprised me and took me on a trip to most of the places shown in the video above, to Seljavallarlaug, Dyrhólaey, Vik í Mýrdal, ending with a firework show at Jökulsárlón. I felt like I was at a show in Disneyland, it was so surreal. To top it off, when the firework stopped, an iceberg loosened and traveled around Jökulsárlón. It was a great way to say goodbye. I was reminded of how beautiful my country is. There is no place like it.

Couldn´t breathe!!!

Figures that the day that i had an amazing day, hung out with my best friend,  2 hour walk and watched a movie with a cold one  in hand, so happy with my life that the next day i would be fighting for my life!

I thought i was having a cold so stayed inside, drank hot water with ginger, cough syrup and tried to sleep, only to have a suffocating feeling and all of a sudden i couldnt catch my breath. So i ran towards the kitchen where my mom stood stunned at my state, tried to stay calm, and try to to breath slowly so i could catch my breath.  I ran outside where i sat down and barely was able to catch my breath. I couldnt speak after that, literally. I was crying my eyes out. Nothing like that had ever happened and i was terrified.

My mom took me to the emergency room where the doctor informed me i had had an allergy reaction (atopic allergy). I got some histamin tablets and that was it. Needless to say i had trouble sleeping.

Nothing scarier than not being able to breathe! Got also a nasty virus which lasted 2 weeks.
Not a pleasant way to spend your vacation.

Ironic that i had just met my friend, who wanted to meet me because she dreamt i had died. On the same day i can´t breathe.....i was thinking of this when this all was happening, hoping she wasnt a psychic. SPOOKY!

Talk about a sizzling routine

...or as Paris Hilton says "that´s hot"

Quote of the day

"I prayed for change, so I changed my mind.
I prayed for guidance and learned to trust myself.
I prayed for happiness and realized I am not my ego.
I prayed for peace and learned to accept others unconditionally.
I prayed for abundance and realized my doubt kept it out.
I prayed for wealth and realized it is my health.
I prayed for a miracle and realized I am the miracle.
I prayed for a soul mate and realized I am the One.
I prayed for love and realized it's always knocking, but I have to allow it in."
- Jackson Kiddard

Work, birthday presents, reunion and tons of fun with friends

Only a month until I´m moving to L.A.....

Lot of changes at my work. My mom got a new job at Sjova, and new owners took over the spa in the end of last month, a lot of changes between so it´s been a very challenging time at work. Me and Ingunn even had a theme song during that time "GIRLS, WE RUN THIS MOTHERF*-ing PLACE!"

Dagný´s birthday party, which brought all of us "Vælsdruslurnar" together, the team that performed"baby one more time" so legendary in Verzló (our old school).

Other news...my nieces just said "Anna" for the first time....totally made my day!

Visited my friend while she was sick. She has been such amazing friend to me so the least i could do was bring her some chocolate and company. She also helped me make the collage for my mom. Since my mom had a new job and a birthday i asked our colleagues if they wanted to contribute and give a present for my mom and man...the response was amazing. So many people helped. I gave her two huge posters with greetings from people, flowers at her new work and money for a holiday. She loved it!

I also did something for my brothers birthday. He really likes this icelandic band Jon Jonsson, so for his birthday i talked to the front man of the band (he is a friend of mine) to not only give him an autograph but also a little greeting on video. Needless to say, my brother loved it.

I´ve discovered something. It´s amazing how when you´re pretty and dressed up, no interesting guys are around but the one time you don´t wear makeup or fancy clothes, there they are. I was walking with my good friend Þórunn in Nautholsvik, i had just gotten out of bed to meet her at the ice cream store and then a walk in nautholsvik when all of a sudden i see tons of cute guys walking towards us. NOT FAIR! It´s hard to feel confident in a foo fighters t-shirt, lazy pants and glasses...that´s all i say.

I invited my awesome friends "Swing" group to a dinner party, burritos/tacos, strawberry daiquiri and singstar dance. We had a blast talking, laughing and singing/dancing and then partied downtown, except there were few people, not enough fun so we took "kubbur", a very popular game at home, where you throw some sticks. We played that game at  Austurvöllur at 3 am... we had so much fun playing. There were even these guys monitoring it from the top of the bar. The next morning i was telling my brother and he said "Wait, was there a girl in a red dress"....i answered:"Stefán, that was me"....turns out he and his friends were the ones monitoring the game. This is how small Iceland is!

I met Alexandra and Ósk, Icelanders who lived in Vienna for dinner at Uno. I had only met either one but we had not been all three together since 2006, or for 5 years... Amazing how time passes by, but the beauty of that kind of friendship is, we didnt feel as any time had passed. We talked for hours.

My best friend Frikki is in town, so we celebrated big time, drank tons and danced the night away.....as the J.Lo song goes. Let´s just say i uttered the phrase "i´ll never drink again" several times.

I celebrated Gay pride with "my gays", as i´ve done ever since 2003. This year we were not on a float so we actually got to see the show. It was a blast. Even the mayor took part as "Fröken Reykjavik"....loved it. I´m so grateful to live in a country that celebrates human rights in such a way.

After the show we had a beer and then i went home to rest a little for the night. We met at Frikki´s and his boyfriend Davíð´s place and had drinks with all their friends. So different people but we got along so well.  We went to the party downtown at Nasa, where I met Þórdís, Auður, Hreiðar and so many others i hadn´t seen for the longest time. I love celebrating Gay Pride with my gays.

We celebrated my nieces 2 year old birthday party at my parents house on the porch. We were so lucky with the weather, it was probably 25 degrees (which is a heat record in Iceland). We ate cake, sang, danced Zumba and talked. It´s a great occasion to bring the family together. And the girls really seemed to enjoy themselves, especially when we turned the sandbox into a swimming pool.

I´m on holiday now so i´m using the time to hang out with Frikki, and my other friends, relax a little, sleep in, dance zumba, write, prepare for L.A. and perhaps make something out of my websites.
Most of all, enjoy this time in Iceland surrounded by family and friends...while i still can ;)

Happy Endings

if you need a new show since most shows are on holiday I highly recommend the show "Happy Endings"
It´s brilliant....like the scene above where Penny has taught them "JazzMaga" (mix of Krav Maga and Jazz).... can´t stop laughing at it, especially the dance and costume of the guys.

Another show i highly recommend is "Perfect Couples," it´s been canceled by NBC (probably due to not enough PR, there is not even a trailer on youtube). Such a shame since the show is so funny. I hope they move it to another network where they can get greater exposure.

ENJOY!

What Kind of Day Shall I Choose Today?

Today I can complain about my health,
Or I can celebrate being alive.

Today I can moan that it is raining,
Or be joyful at all that grows from the rain.

Today I can regret all I don't have,
Or rejoice in everything I do.

Today I can mourn everything I have lost,
Or eagerly anticipate what's to come.
Today I can complain that I have to work,
Or celebrate having a job to go to.

Today I can resent the mess the kids make,
Or give thanks that I have a family.

Today I can whine about the housework,
Or celebrate having a home.

Today I can cry over those who don't care for me,
Or be happy loving and being loved by those who do.

I CHOOSE to have a good day!

Singing and dancing Zumba at a wedding with friends...

To sum up the last month..... singing, zumba, wedding, friends...

I´m back into my singing. When i heard that Complete Vocal Studio was having a 3 day Seminar, i jumped at the chance. It was amazing, i had so much fun learning, singing and meeting new people. I learned more in these 3 days than all the other however long courses i took. The teachers were also so much fun, among them was Hera (who competed for us in Eurovision). Entertaining and informative, the way it should be. Made me feel more confident for L.A....can you believe it, L.A. in only 3 months.

Babysat my nieces while they were sick only to find them swimming in a pile of cheerios (cereal). Such a kodak moment and funny seeing their smiling expressions so i could only say "you´re so lucky i´m not your mother"...loved helping out and getting a little time with my sister as well.

I´ve gotten to know the greatest group of people, Þórdís, her boyfriend and her friends, or "the swing club". I´ve been hanging out with them a lot, just chilling and laughing at their home, baking, watching tv, sunbathing at our workplace, out to dinner or going to Auður´s for barbeque and beer in the hot tub. That´s what i call paradise. The most fun evening was Anton´s birthday party. I wasn´t going to go but since they were so kind to invite me to their group i didnt want to miss the chance and thank god i didnt. I was just going to drop by....well...came home at 5 am. We had fun at Anton´s and Helgi´s place playing darts, singing (my way of getting everyone out...totally worked) posed for pictures, went to bars Barbara and Oliver and danced the night away. Well..then unfortunately they couldnt find the keys to the car so we walked a long way to my car to pick them up and then drove them home. Despite that this night was LEGEN...wait for it...DARY! LEGENDARY!

Met my friends Guðrún, Dagný, Þórunn, Lára, Ingunn, Eva, Birgitta, sisters Svava and Sara as well as Kolla and wife Sandra, daughter Tinna and their beautiful baby Rökkvi. He had grown so much since i saw him last. So adorable. Me and Þórunn went on another pub crawl and this time met some guys from Michigan and the only thing i could think of was Marshall (from HIMYM) and Prince. Not much else I knew from that place, but the guys were fun to talk to. When you´re a workaholic like me you need extra time for friends...to make up for lost time.

Talking of friends, my best friend Alexandra, her boyfriend Paul and Anna, came to Iceland for Dora´s wedding. Yes, the redhaired Dora who was with me in Vienna was getting married and we were all there to celebrate. I got Alexandra for a whole evening of girl talk, Anna for lunch and the both of them for dinner, then on Saturday, Doras wedding day, i invited the girls to the spa and then we met at the wedding. It was a beautiful wedding. I mostly enjoyed spending time with Alexandra and Anna and had a hard time leaving. I hate saying goodbye, although the good thing is that everytime i meet them it´s like no time has passed, that´s the thing with good friends. And how amazing is it to have friends all over the world. Awesome.

Working like crazy but cutting back on the zumba, from 8 classes to 3, so i can actually have a social life and enjoy the summer .I´m loving it, especially since i have awesome friends to share it with, now i´m just waiting until the end of July when Frikki comes...that will be the best. Until then
